Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Tani Sauyunan is an alternative food system model that connects farmers and consumers through a relationship built on fairness and mutual care. By joining as a member, you receive fresh, locally grown food directly from young farmers. This system ensures stable income for farmers, as members contribute a subscription fee at the beginning of each month. With this support, farmers can better plan and optimize their production.

Why Do We Adopt Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)?

Environmental Impacts

CSA aligns with the principles of regenerative and natural farming that we practice by:

1. Reducing Carbon Footprint: By distributing vegetables locally, we minimize emissions from long-distance transportation.

2. Reducing Plastic Use: Our vegetable packages are delivered in reusable burlap bags, which are exchanged weekly to reduce plastic waste.

3. Managing Organic Waste: Compost made from household waste and coffee grounds from local cafés becomes the main source of nutrients for the garden, as well as creating a closed-loop system.

1. Preserving Indonesia’s Collective Spirit (gotong royong) culture: The concept of “Sauyunan” (togetherness) in Tani Sauyunan reflects Sundanese local wisdom, where food production and consumption are shared responsibilities.

1. Ensuring More Stable Income for Farmers: CSA members will pay at the beginning of the planting season, which gives farmers financial security without the pressure of fluctuating market prices.

2. Creating Shorter Supply Chains: By selling directly to members, prices become more affordable for the community, while profits go directly to the farmers, not to intermediaries.

3. Promoting Circular Economy: Using household organic waste and coffee grounds for compost reduces production costs and adds value to what is often seen as “waste.”

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Tani Sauyunan adalah sistem yang menghubungkan petani sebagai produsen dan masyarakat sebagai konsumen. Anggota yang tergabung akan mendapatkan sumber pangan yang dekat, transparan dan terpercaya. Sistem ini memberikan kepastian pendapatan bagi petani, karena anggota akan membayar biaya kontribusi berlangganan di awal bulan, sehingga petani dapat mengoptimalkan kegiatan produksi. REGISTRATION

Consumers sign up as members, choose their vegetable package, and pay the monthly or seasonal contribution fee in advance.

PLANTING

Young farmers cultivate the land and grow a variety of vegetables using natural and regenerative agriculture practices.

HARVESTING

Every Wednesday, young farmers harvest a range of seasonal vegetables available in the garden.

DELIVERY

Every Thursday, members receive one burlap bag containing 4 to 8 types of vegetables, delivered by the organization’s youth (Karang Taruna) to designated drop-off points.

Partner Farmers

Abah Luky

Luky Laksmana, warmly known as Abah Luky (Abah is an Indonesian term meaning “father” or “elder,” used to express warmth and respect), is the head of Buruan SAE Pesona Arcamanik. As a retired civil servant, Abah now spends his retirement actively engaged in urban farming, including growing vegetables and chicken farming. His harvests are distributed through the CSA Tani Sauyunan system. In addition to farming, Abah also enjoys staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. As a result, at his current age, 73, he remains fit and full of energy.

Pak Rukijan

Pak Rukijan is a farmer from Buruan Sae BTR Berkah in Ujung Berung, Bandung. He began his farming journey in 2022 and has successfully grown cassava, jicama, water spinach, lettuce, honey pumpkin, celery, and purple eggplant on a 300-square-meter plot. In addition to farming, he sells fresh chicken at Ujung Berung Market from morning until noon. Pak Rukijan brings great energy to the garden every day, finding joy and satisfaction in watching his vegetables grow.

Pak Odang

Pak Odang

Oja Sanjaya, better known as Pak Odang (Pak is an Indonesian term similar to “Mr.”), has been partnering with Seni Tani since 2021. He cultivates 500 square meters of land in Mekarwangi, Dago Giri. Pak Odang grows a variety of vegetables including lettuce, winged bean, beetroot, carrots, pakcoy, spring onions, mustard greens, and caisim. His farmland is now certified organic by ICERT. Since becoming a Partner Farmer in the CSA Tani Sauyunan program, Pak Odang has found the harvest distribution process much easier.
