Tani is a grassroots movement born from a deep concern about the growing disconnect between urban people, nature, and the sources of their food. Our journey began in 2020 with the activation of an idle plot of land in the Arcamanik, Bandung city, into a thriving food garden by utilizing natural, sustainable, and regenerative agriculture methods rooted in ecological care. To enrich the soil, we use compost made from organic waste collected from home gardens in the surrounding area. This compost is applied to the garden beds to maintain soil health, ensuring that the vegetables we grow can thrive. One of the composting techniques we use is known as lasagna compost.
The produce grown in our garden is distributed by adapting an alternative model named Community Supported Agriculture (CSA); in which we call this initiative as Tani Sauyunan.
